The STORY OF LIFE (SOL) is a performing art project that was launched by Maziar Chahi in collaboration with CLUE Academy in 2024. The project is based on Maziar's personal life experiences and emotions, which he expresses through the mesmerizing sounds of the hang drum. The performance was created with the accompaniment of a selected number of CLUE Academy's talented students learning Percussion with Maziar, resulting in a truly unique and captivating musical experience.

The Author of The SOL

I am Maziar Chahi, a percussionist and music instructor.

My professional journey began at the age of 6, and by 18, I started teaching various percussion instruments. My entry into the world of professional music began almost 20 years ago, and I have since been involved in teaching and leading various groups.

This journey led to international achievements in 2015 in Austria, 2016 in Spain, and 2017 in France. My bands, mainly consisting of my talented students, have performed in various countries such as Germany, France, Austria, Oman, Cyprus, and others. In 2021, I immigrated to Canada and I currently teach percussion instruments full-time at CLUE Academy.

How Did You Start at CLUE Academy?

My journey with CLUE Academy began in 2023, when along with my dear colleagues, Vahid and Mahla, we started structuring and shaping the academy's educational system. Today, I am pleased to see this establishment thriving professionally, and nurturing talented students in the GTA.

Students at CLUE Academy are engaged in various fields such as Vocal, Percussion instruments, Piano, Guitar, DJ, Sculpting, Acting, Filmmaking, Visual and Performance Arts, and many more courses.

Tell Us More About The SOL

After starting classes, we received great feedback, and a diverse group of compatriots have been learning percussion instruments in my classes. Given my experience in shaping student groups, I knew there was great potential here to create opportunities and lay the groundwork for remarkable achievements. We decided to launch our ensemble groups with the initial aim of fostering their musical growth through ensemble classes. However, from the outset, we aimed to see them perform on grand stages and deliver professional performances.

This initiative combined with the performance of the "Story of Life" repertoire, a project specifically written for my hang drum instrument, essentially tells the story of my life through different chapters, adding a more emotional dimension to this project. It's fascinating to work with individuals who may have never performed on stage before, but this has become a very professional and important aspect of their lives.

What Are The Objectives of The SOL?

One of the objectives I targeted for this project was to have versatile musicians and singers who could accompany us through the different chapters of this piece, creating a deeper connection with the audience. Each of these individuals can contribute to making this project more engaging, and their involvement can enhance the overall experience for the audience.

Teaching has never been just about imparting knowledge for me; it's about being involved in their lives and playing a vibrant role in their emotions and feelings, which every teacher should fulfill. I am delighted to see the members of this group enjoying this journey moment by moment, leading to a growing interest from those who visit us daily, eager to start playing this instrument and eventually join this group. We are honored to host these individuals.

Currently, these individuals are diligently practicing every week, and we are planning extensive programs for them.

What Future Do You See for The SOL?

Our future target includes numerous performances, starting with the Bomranii band performance on May 19 and continuing with exclusive performances for me, where they will perform the "Story of Life." Our goal is to prepare these performances for various music festivals in Toronto and gradually expand to other countries like the United States and Europe.

CLUE Academy, despite being only a year old since its inception, has shown remarkable growth, and I hope this progress continues sustainably. With the goals we set and the programs we plan for the children, we aim to be a good service provider and maintain our reputation in the city of Toronto.
